Principal’s Message

Welcome to Journey Middle School

I am excited to continue serving as Principal of Journey Middle School and to work alongside our dedicated staff, students, families, and community partners. Together, we are committed to creating a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued, connected, and supported to succeed.

At Journey, we believe that strong relationships are the foundation of learning. We strive to ensure that every student experiences a sense of belonging and has opportunities to develop confidence, resilience, and a positive sense of self. Our staff work collaboratively to create engaging learning experiences that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, and personal growth.

This year, our School Plan continues to focus on literacy development, student engagement, and fostering a positive school culture. We are committed to helping students strengthen their reading, communication, and thinking skills while creating meaningful opportunities for student voice, leadership, and choice. We believe that when students feel connected to their school and have opportunities to contribute, they are more likely to thrive both academically and socially.

Journey Middle School is proud of the strong partnerships we have with families and our broader community. We are grateful for the opportunities to learn from and work alongside T'Sou-ke Nation, Pacheedaht Nation, and other Indigenous communities. Through the teachings of NA'TSA'MAHT, meaning "One Mind, One Body, One Spirit," we continue to deepen our understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and learning while fostering respect, reconciliation, and meaningful connections.

We encourage all students to become involved in the many opportunities that make Journey such a vibrant school community, including athletics, clubs, leadership activities, fine arts, and special events. These experiences help students discover their strengths, build friendships, and develop a strong sense of belonging.

Thank you for being part of the Journey community. We look forward to another year of learning, growth, and success together. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions, suggestions, concerns, or compliments. I value the relationships we build with students, families, and community members and welcome the opportunity to connect.
