Leadership

At Journey Middle School, we believe student voice plays an important role in creating a positive and inclusive school culture. Our Grade 8 Leadership students work alongside staff and their peers to help build a welcoming, connected, and engaging school community where every student feels they belong.

Through the Leadership Program, students develop skills in communication, teamwork, organization, and service while taking an active role in shaping school life. Leadership students help plan and support a variety of activities and events that strengthen school spirit, encourage participation, and create meaningful experiences for their peers.

Leadership opportunities may include:

  • Welcoming new students through Grade 6 Orientation
  • Organizing the Welcome Back BBQ
  • Supporting assemblies and school spirit events
  • Assisting with athletic events and scorekeeping
  • Providing peer mentorship and tutoring opportunities
  • Leading theme days and school-wide initiatives, such as Pink Shirt Day
  • Organizing lunchtime activities and clubs
  • Supporting fundraisers and community service projects
  • Promoting inclusion, kindness, and school pride

Our Leadership Program empowers students to make a positive difference in their school while developing the confidence and skills to become effective leaders in their communities. Through their contributions, Journey students help create a school culture where everyone feels valued, connected, and inspired to participate.
