Late French Immersion
Journey Middle School is proud to offer a Late French Immersion Program for students who are interested in becoming bilingual but may not have studied in French previously. Now entering its second year, the program has generated significant interest and currently maintains a waitlist, reflecting the enthusiasm of students and families for French language learning.
The Late French Immersion Program provides an intensive, supportive, and engaging French language experience designed to help students rapidly develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Through focused language instruction and immersive learning opportunities, students build a strong foundation in French while continuing to meet the expectations of the BC curriculum.
The program is specifically designed to help students with little or no prior French experience progress toward a level of proficiency comparable to their peers in the French Immersion Program by the end of Grade 8. Along the way, students develop confidence, communication skills, cultural awareness, and the benefits that come with learning a second language.
Late French Immersion opens the door to continued French studies in secondary school and provides students with a pathway toward earning a Double Dogwood Diploma, recognizing graduation in both English and French. By choosing the Late French Immersion Program, students gain valuable opportunities that can support future education, employment, travel, and lifelong learning.
At Journey, the Late French Immersion Program reflects our commitment to providing diverse learning opportunities and helping students challenge themselves, discover new strengths, and expand their horizons through bilingual education.
