Welcome to a Sooke School District website, webpage, portal, online form, or related online service (collectively, the “Site”). The Site is owned and operated by the Sooke School District (the “District,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). The District is a public school district in British Columbia, Canada.

1. Acceptance of this Agreement

By accessing or using the Site, including any content, services, and features offered through the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (the “Terms”). If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the Site.

2. Use of the Site

The Site is made available to students, parents/guardians, staff, and members of the public to share information about the District’s programs, activities, governance, and services, and to provide means of contact or feedback. Unless otherwise stated, the Site is intended primarily for users accessing information and services related to the District in British Columbia, Canada.

3. Changes and Availability

We may modify, suspend, discontinue, amend, or revise the Site, any part of the Site, or these Terms at any time, with or without notice. Changes to these Terms become effective when posted on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. 5. Accounts, Passwords & Authorized Users

Some registered or authorized users of the Site may have access to password-protected areas, portals, accounts, forms, or other features. If you are assigned login credentials, you are responsible for maintaining their confidentiality and for all use or misuse of those credentials. You agree to notify the District immediately of any unauthorized use. You must ensure that any information you submit through the Site is accurate, complete, and submitted only where you have authority to provide it. Do not share your login credentials with others.

6. Content, Accuracy & Disclaimer of Warranties

The content on this Site is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. The Site is not a comprehensive or detailed statement concerning the matters addressed, and does not comprise advice or recommendations. Although reasonable efforts are made to ensure accuracy, we make no guarantees. School schedules, fees, program information, policies, procedures, and other content may change without notice. Where there is a conflict between information on the Site and an official District policy, administrative procedure, Board decision, written notice, or applicable law, the official source will govern.

Content is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

7. Limitation of Liability

Your access to and use of the Site is at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sooke School District and its trustees, employees, and agents disclaim any and all liability for any damages, including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or other damages, arising from your use of or inability to use the Site.

This Site may contain links to third-party websites or services for convenience. We do not control or endorse such sites or services and are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, security practices, accessibility standards, or terms of use. Access and use of third-party sites and services are at your own risk.

9. Intellectual Property & Use of Content

The Site and its content are the property of the District or other persons and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Your use of the Site does not transfer to you any ownership or other rights in the Site or its content.

You may download or print portions of the Site for personal, educational, and non-commercial use only, provided you retain all notices. No other use is permitted without written consent.

10. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. The District collects, uses, discloses, stores, and protects personal information in accordance with applicable laws, including British Columbia’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA), and applicable District policies and procedures. Do not submit sensitive personal information through general website forms or email unless the District has specifically requested it and provided an appropriate method for submission.

11. Conflict With Other Agreements

If these Terms conflict with another written agreement, consent form, notice, policy, administrative procedure, or other specific terms provided by the District, the more specific or applicable written terms will govern to the extent of the conflict.

12. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and Canada. You agree to the jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia for matters related to these Terms and use of the Site, subject to any applicable laws or statutory rights.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid, the remainder shall continue in full force.

14. Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the agreement between you and the District concerning use of the Site and do not replace District policies, administrative procedures, consent forms, contracts, statutory obligations, or other written terms that may apply to specific programs, services, or activities.

15. Accessibility and Website Feedback

The District aims to make website content accessible and usable. If you have difficulty accessing information on the Site, please contact the District so we can assist and review the issue.

16. Not for Emergency Communications

The Site and general website contact forms should not be used for emergencies or urgent safety matters. In an emergency, call 911 or contact the appropriate emergency service.
