Principal’s Message

Welcome to the 2026-27 school year at Centre Mountain Lellum Middle School! I am excited to start my 3rd year as Principal of this amazing school. I've been an educator in the Sooke School District for over 30 years, and my heart has always been at middle school. I lead our school with the belief that every student deserves to feel safe, connected, valued, and that they belong here. I also believe that we all share in that responsibility – students, staff, families, and the broader community. I look forward to the excitement another year brings – engaging in learning, trying new things, meeting new friends, laughing together, and supporting our students as we watch them grow and thrive.

Laura Lancaster

Principal

I am excited to begin my fourth year as Vice Principal at Centre Mountain Lellum Middle School and feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a welcoming and inspiring community. My career in education has taken me from New Zealand to Alberta, the Lower Mainland, and SD62, where I have had the privilege working with students from Kindergarten through Grade 12. Through these experiences, I have discovered that middle school holds a special place in my heart. It is an important time when students are discovering who they are, building confidence, and learning how to navigate new challenges.

Middle school is a time to discover who you are, try new things, build meaningful relationships, and learn from both successes and challenges. This year, I encourage our students to approach new opportunities with curiosity, courage, resilience, and an openness to learning .I hope students feel encouraged to take chances, try new things, and see challenges as opportunities to learn and grow. Most importantly, I hope we continue to build a community as we learn and respect ourselves, one another, and the land. My door is always open, please come by and say hello

Michaela Mistal

Vice Principal

Welcome to another year at Centre Mountain Lellum! As I begin my second year as Vice Principal, I feel incredibly grateful to continue serving this amazing school community. Having first joined the school as a Grade 8 teacher, it has been a privilege to grow alongside our students, staff, and families and to see our school continue to develop its own strong identity.

Middle school is full of opportunities to learn, grow, discover new interests, and find moments of joy along the way. I encourage students to take a chance on something new this year - whether that means joining a team or club, contributing an idea, connecting with someone new, or exploring an interest in the classroom.

Relationships remain at the heart of how I approach this work, and I look forward to continuing to build strong partnerships with students, families, and staff. My door is always open, and I’m excited to reconnect with familiar faces, welcome those who are new, share plenty of laughter, and begin another great year together.
