Dear Families,

We are incredibly proud of our students for their enthusiastic participation in this year’s Terry Fox Run. Their energy and dedication to keeping Terry’s legacy alive was truly inspiring. A big thank you to Mr. Pepin and his students for organizing the event. Through donations, we raised $353.40!

 

We would like to invite families to join us on Thursday, September 24 at our Meet the Teacher Event and Ice-Cream Social. The event starts at 6:00pm in your child’s classroom. At 6:30pm, we invite families to the gym for a welcome to the new school year and an introduction to the John Muir team. To finish off the evening, ice-cream will be available to students.

 

This year, our school is providing breakfast and hot lunch every day to students through the Flourish School Food Society. Ten students will be provided snack/breakfast, and forty students will be provided lunch to start. This is open to all families. 

Students will choose what and how much they would like to eat and then bring the food to eat in their class with their peers. The weekly menu will be available online to know what is being served. 

If you would like your child to participate, please fill out the attached form and return to the office ASAP. Those families who have already sent in form, your children have been added to our list.

 

 Ms. Rasheeda has made available in MyEd, your child/ren’s verification form. This form includes information such as address, phone number, email address, etc. Please review the information on the form. If the information is incorrect or needs to be updated, please connect with Rasheeda.

Ms. Rasheeda has emailed one emergency release form per family. Please fill out the form and return to school by Monday, September 28. The emergency release form helps us make sure students are safely returned to their families during a real emergency. If you need a paper copy of this form, please see Ms. Rasheeda in the office.

Celebrate the harvest season with us at the Sooke Harvest Festival! Set in the beautiful Sunriver Orchard, this family-friendly community event is all about celebrating the local harvest, delicious treats, and fun for all ages.

 

 Literacy Foundations English Course

Please see the attached poster/information on a Literacy Foundations English course for adults (18+) that will be running at the John Horgan campus from Monday, November 2 to Thursday, December 17, 2026. Classes will run Monday to Friday from 9:30am – 12pm.
