Leadership Club at Savory
Ms. Chan and Mr. Vargas have started the Leadership Club for the 2026-2027 school year. Leadership Club is for students in grades 5 and provides them with opportunities to plan, organize and run school events for other students. Leadership comes together to have fun, be creative, and collaborate as a group to plan exciting and inspiring activities for the students at Savory. Leadership members also help out around the school doing such things as setting up for assemblies. Leadership members have the opportunity to exercise leadership skills through sharing activity ideas and putting them into action with the support of Ms. Chan and Mr. Vargas.
Leadership Club Objectives:
- Provide students with the opportunity to establish meaningful and caring relationships with peers
- Help students grow in their interpersonal and leadership skills
- Provide opportunities for students to creatively participate in, and contribute to, positive school experiences
- Provide students the opportunity to be role models within the school
- To continue to develop and enhance student self-esteem

Demographic Information
Every year we ask parents/guardians to confirm that we have the correct information on file, for you and your child. This helps in cases of emergency, sickness and communication between the school and home. Please provide us with any updated student demographic and emergency contact information via email to savory@sd62.bc.ca.
Please log into the MyEd Parent Portal and check to see if the following information is correct and up to date on the verification form:
- Student and parent/guardian addresses
- Parent/guardian phone numbers and email addresses
- Primary, secondary and tertiary contact information
- Emergency contact information
- Student Medical Information e.g. allergies etc.
Emergency Contacts
As part of our School District policy, we cannot release your child to any person not on your emergency contacts list. This person must be at least 19 years of age and be able to pick up your child in case of emergency. Please ensure that you regularly update any changes to your phone numbers and to make sure you have someone who can pick up your child in the event you are not close to school.
Other information
If there are any changes regarding any issues such as legal guardianship, Court Orders etc., please contact our office and provide us with copies of the legal documentation. We cannot follow orders without the paper documentation.
Parent/Guardian Consents
Each year we require parents to complete on-line consent forms by Sept. 25, 2026 using this link https://consent.sd62.bc.ca/apps/OnlineConsent to complete the following

Student Release Form – In Case of Emergency i.e. Earthquake
Please complete the form sent home Monday/Tuesday (yellow form) with children. On this form you list all the students you have in the school along with parent/guardian information; out of Province Contact; Medical alert information; Authorized Guardians. In the event of a significant emergency, or disaster, we may as a school need to implement an Emergency Reunification for their safety and well-being. Should this be necessary, the school will only release your children to people authorized in this form or if necessary, to medical personnel. Please return this form – one per student to your child’s teacher by September 24, 2026.
MyEd Parent Portal
It is imperative that parents and guardians have access to the MyEd Parent Portal to access Student Report Cards, Student Attendance Records, Inclusive Education Plans and Demographic & Emergency Contact information. Please note that this is the only way to access Student Report Cards as paper copies will not be sent home. As a school district, we are striving to be environmentally sound in our practices – reducing paper use.
New parents/guardians to our school this year will receive this email invite by Friday end of day.
Please see information here on our district website with specifics of how to access MyEd BC Parent Portal. https://www.sd62.bc.ca/parents-students/myed-bc-portal. Also included is the How to Find Your MyEducationBC Password if you have never logged on. If you need assistance, please email us or call our office. Please also see the MyEd attachments that will also help you access MyEd.
